The Big Night

This week we roiled a dice  to see what we wrote.I got an Elf on a roof top, Christmas night and something or someone is lost. We did this because it is about Christmas.

We are learning about Christmas traditions around the world. Today I learned That France that France kids put there shoes in fount of the fire place.

Hinemoa & Tutanekai

Today we read myth and legend book. It was Hinemoa & Tutanekai. The story theme was a love story and love conquer everything and it was about Hinemoa & Tutanekai loving each other but Hinemoa dad dose not want them to be together.

Kitty food

For writing we had to put an unexpected twist about the photo down blow. We had to do the second photo of what would happen next. My unexpected twist was that the cat turned into a giant cat and ate the goblin.

As the green goblin slowly walked across the wooden floor, a big creak broke the silence of the night, he froze in the middle of his step. The furious goblin was hungry, mmm a white fuzzy marshmallow I wonder what he taste like in my mouldy mouth.

When the goblin was about to pick up the cat the cat meowed and turned into a giant cat. The goblin tried to kick the cat but the cat keeped karate chopping the goblin. Eventually the cat took the power and ate the feisty goblin and sucked on him like enormous lollipop. Then the cat spit him out because he taste like broccoli. The cat knocked him out and put salt on him and ate him”mmm”, and went back to sleep.

Minecraft skin

We had to draw a minecraft skin on google sheets. I don't now a lot about minecraft but a now that there are different kinds of Steve like blue, green Steve, red Steve, herobrine, bedrock Steve, yellow Steve and shadow figure. All of the Steve are made by notch and notch made minecraft.

Robotics we are done

"nooo" It was the last day of robotic. On every Tuesday afternoon we do robotic. Me, Lucy and Jimi finished the maze yay. I found challenging how much wheel spins to do. I found easy the first track. The robot is EV3.

Te Manu Tukutuku poem

For literacy we are writing a poem about our new school. We are writing about our feelings for Te Manu Tukutuku what is our new school. We have to write about what we could see, feel, smell, touch and hear.

Day 4 we are done

This is the last day of our learning journey. I only got time to do the bonus activity. what we had to do was write what  have I learned? What did I like about the trip? What didn’t I like?

Robotics

This term I have been doing robotics every Tuesday afternoon. We had to learn to programme a robot a robot to move.  First I got a mac book and went into EV3. Then we made a folder. Then we programme the robot. I found challenging how much well spins to do. I found easy the first track. We did succeed.

Day 5 One Step at a Time

It is now day 5 of our learning journey only 2 more. For activity one we got lost in the frost we have to write 8-10 sentences of what could happen next. For activity two we had to write about a famous New Zealand. for the bonus activity Otago Central Rail Trail and have to say if it does it sound like fun? Why or why not?

Day 4 of your Learning Journey not long to go

It is now day 4 of your learning journey not long to go only 3 more day of the learning journey. For activity 1 we went to golden bay and in that bay there is a place called farewell spit. There are all ways beached dolphins on the bay. we had to show ways how people saved the dolphins one ways is to get a bucket of water and splash them with it. for the Bonus Activity we had to banned the people to fish there.

For calendar art we had to chose tree things to do I picked the city. First we had to plan the houses then we did a good copy. First we had to put in square for the paint. But before we stared painting we draw the houses. Then we got the paint out and stared painting. The square are to put the colours in. First we did the sky then we did the houses. Then we draw black vivid on the lines on the houses, doors and the windows                 .  

Day 3

This week for literacy we are doing a learning journey. This is day 3 we had to do 3 activity. This time we visited the Otorohanga Kiwi House and Native Bird Park for the first one. then we vised Napier and there was a possums and it damaged a tree we have to kill it or keep it alive. For the bonus activity we had to draw a part of a moa.

 

Day 2 were getting there

This week for literacy we have been doing activates to learn about New Zealand there are 7 places in New Zealand, we have done two so there is 5 left. Activity one was we had 3 places that we had to read about the 3 places and picked the best. then wrote about it.

The 2 activity there was a girl Laura and there was a video we watched, she travelled around the world in a boat. We had to ask 5 questions to her.

Bonus activity we had to get a buddy and share 5 thing outside

Day 1

Walt is to finish the learning journey and to learn about New Zealand. This week for Literacy we are doing something different for this week. There are 7 days we will do 5 days this week and 2 day next week. In our literacy class we have made a list and to get points we need to finish your work and 1st 2nd 3rd get a prise.

Complex Sentences

 Complex Sentences

Complex sentences has to have 2 simple sentences joined together. 2 sentences are about the same thing or related. 2 verbs and a verb in each simple sentences. It has to have a conjunction in it. It has to have the basic punctuation like capital letters full stops. I have one simple sentence and to complex sentence.

As the giant people blow there trumpets at the people and suck them up because they were stabling the giants. The giants are big. The giants are using there big bright lights as if they are tying to blind them. The giants were wearing big suits because they protect them

Eating bugs

In reading we were learning about bugs. They were telling us about why we should eat bugs. I read you one like bugs help you grow and are healthy. I am going to try and make you eat bugs.

My logo design

This week we are doing logo design. We put are favourite things into a shape that represent you. I trued to make a shield.                                      

Digi Awards

This week the year 5 to 6 are doing Digi awards. Me and Oliver are doing an animation. In this animation this is a big accident but one of them showed Manaakitanga and showed Kindness.

For Digi awards a group set up to " make there day shop". In could buy an ice block and instead of paying with money I paid with a kind act to make someones day. I chose to say hi to someone to pay for a ice block.
                       

Number of the week

When we do number of the week there are stages. First we used Scribble lines to wire our number what is 3298. Then I would do 3000+200+90+8 and that would equal the number 3298. Then we did said the number in words. What we did next was we takeaway 100 add 100 takeaway 10 and add 10. Then we used blocks to show the number. Then we used money to show the number. Then we named the number even or odd. A the end we round it to the nearest 10 and the nearest 100.

Frist we watched a video of how to do the strategy. Then we went up to the teacher. after that we got given a sheet of with the strategy on it.

Coding/scratch

On Tuesday we do coding and scratch. Today we got carters and a background. At the end of coding we shod have a maze. We picked two characters that are called sprite

Add don't Subtract

This week we are learning to do Add don't Subtract. you Chang a Subtracting into a adding question. This is a strategy, instead of Subtract add. So if I had 42-26 it would be 26+__=42 So it would be 13. So we made a DLO. This is a easy why instead of doing Subtracting.

Movies

In writing we are learning to elaborate on our ideas and use a hook at the start of our writing. We wrote a recount about our holidays. My hook is so much fun. I have elaborated on adjective. I used wow words to elaborate on my ideas.

Severe Weather

For writing we have been doing severe weather. today I did a Description about severe weather, we had four pieces of paper there were pitchers on it. the pitchers on the paper there were Photos of severe weather we were in groups we when around the paper, then were wore a description.

Doubling and halving

I am learning to double and half. To solve multiplication problems using this strategy you must double one number and half the other number.I am going to do 16x3.  WALT I am learning to make multiplication problem easier by using doubling and halving.

Awesome Interland

Last Thursday we played an awesome game called Interlard. There were 4 games and the one that I played was Kind Kingdom. The aim of the game was to report or block the bullies and give the sad people positive, helpful and thoughtful comments.

Weather Art

This term we have been learning about weather. In art I crated a stormy night picture. Half of kids dyed the background and the other half of kids did the silhouette. The colours we used to dye was dark blue, black and light blue. We used dark colour at the top and the light colour at the bottom. For the silhouette we used a black sheet of paper on the rough side we drew the lines and our name, then on the other side we cut out the sheet of paper. after the paint dried half of a us did the lightning and the other half did the black cloud. when we did the black cloud we had to dab the paint. Then we swapped over.


 

division and multiplication DLO

In maths I have been learning multiplication strategies.  I have learnt to solve multiplication problem using my 5 times tables. So if I did 8x6 I would do 8x5=40 then 8x1=1 then I do 40+1=41. If I do division 42 divided by 6 I would do 6 times 5=30 then 6x2=12 I get 5 form using my 5 times tables and I get the 2 from 6x2. Then 5+2=7 So it equals 7.

Science

for literacy we have been learning whether but be decided to do a science experiment. We got a bucket of hot water and a plastic bottle. We put a balloon on the plastic bottle so we put the plastic bottle with a balloon and put it in the bucket with hot water in it and it worked 


.

Mindset

During Power Time we have been learning about Growth mindset. We watch a short video about Luke skywalker and Yoda lifting an X-wing out of the lake. Luke had a Fixed mindset. A Fixed mindset is when someone says this is to hard. Yoda had a Growth mindset a Growth mind set is when someone says I can do this I can. We talked what we could say to ourselves to change from a fix mindset to a Growth mindset.

This week in art we have been making weather art. This is how I made it first you put white crayon lines with puddles. Then we painted the background blue and black. When the colours dried we put our names on it and hung it up . WALT use crayon and dye to show movement and ripples in a weather feature.

Penguin Art

We have been learning about Antarctica. So we painted a penguin. First we sketched the penguin bit by bit. Then we painted black feathers. Then we painted the yellow and orange feathers. Then we painted the eye and filled the rest of the body white.

Reflective symmetry

In maths we have been learning about symmetry. Reflective symmetry is when you flip a shape and it looks the same. we played the mirror game and used shape to create Reflective symmetry.

Whether in Antarctica

This term we went to the Antarctica center for a school trip. From this trip we than had to decide between animals in Antarctica, The whether in Antarctica or explorers in Antarctica. I chose whether. I created a  Weather Recording Table and a water cycle about Antarctica.

In my reading I read about the food chain and how animals survive in Antarctica. I learnt about different types of animals that live in Antarctica. In writing I wrote a description about one animal that live in Antarctica, I did cape petrels. i also created a food chain and a slide about how diffident animals survive in Antarctica.

ANZAC

The last tow weeks we have been learning about ANZAC day and why we remember the people who have risked their lives for are freedom and and our way of life.

• We have been reading about ANZAC we read the ANZAC button and about ANZAC mascots. 
• We had a special visitor who showed us a solders penny some photo and told us that ANZAC day is not happy its is sad. 
• We watched some videos about A.N.Z.A.C landing on Gallipoli. 
• Some activities we did is do a dog tag make a ANZAC button we made a dawn parade timeline.
